We’re going to let you in on a little secret. Are you ready? Ok, here it goes: THERE IS MORE TO MOUNT GAY THAN RUM. There is foood! Head chef and owner of La Cuisine Gourmande, Elisabeth Lecrenney, serves up an à la carte lunch that is a fusion of traditional Bajan and international food, on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There is a buffet lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
It’s in the Spring Garden Mount Gay Centre that we drive past all the time… The difference is that you have to actually go inside. The grilled fish was awesome but they told us that they change the menu every month so at least the catch of the day won’t be Mahi-Mahi until the end of time.
If you do get a hankering for some rum, and it’s hard not to when you’re there, they have a bar which opens at 10am. You can get cocktails served up by top bartender and Mixologist Ryan Adamson.
It wasn’t long before they started trying to make us food and rum pairings but those were only Mondays and Saturdays. Look out for some French, Barbadian and Guyanese inspired Christmas specials from Chef Lecrenney, as well as some Christmassy cocktails from Adamson that are sure to get you into the… Spirit (babbom psssssht)!
